The Luna Montana is here!

Today is the last day of "La Luna Montana" (The Mountain Moon) art festival in Huachineras, a small town about thirty miles from here. This evening at eight pm, my daughter Brooke and son Lafe are going to sing and play piano at the Museo de Arte. Tickets are two hundred pesos ($18) per person. This includes entrance into the museum, a gourmet meal and performances from several artists. Brooke will sing four or five songs including, "Hallelujah" (Ill Divo version) Foolish Games, No Me Queda Mas and Remember When It Rained (duet with Lafe jr. on piano)  Lafe will play several pieces on the piano. It's going to be a blast! This will be their first performance in front of a large audience and they are a little nervous to say the least. I will post some of the performance on the web so you all can enjoy it.

And why didn't we discover all this culture back in the day when I lived there? Or is it growing more recently? I love art/music festivals. Looking forward to some video!

this is barely going on its fifth year. Some big name artists petitioned the government to put a museum and cultural center there, so they did at a cost of millions, with two outdoor amphitheaters in the side of the mountain. also with a building for art lessons, music, sculpting, painting, ect. So, every year in september they have this art festival and quite a few famous artist bring their art to display and famous musicians come from all over the world.
Last night Brooke took the show by storm! When she finish the song "Hallelujah" the whole crowd gave her a standing ovation and believe it or not, most of the grown men including the governors personal sec, were wiping the tears in their eyes!
