What does the future hold?

Question. Do you think it is possible for God or man to see, or predict the future? I've wondered about this a lot and have come to some conclusions. How would one go about predicting the future unless the future has already happened? Or, how can you predict the future based on how well you know someones character?

Just to get an idea of how this might happen I've taken the liberty to add my two cents. But being they're made of copper and nickel, they might not be worth a damn!
I have been married for twenty-five years to the same woman. So that goes without saying I know her pretty darn well in just that short period of time. In fact I know her so well, there are several things that I can predict she will do as a consequence of my actions. One little example. If I walk into the kitchen and love smack her on the hind end, I can predict exactly what she will say.

So one way this could happen is similar to this. Let's just assume we have been living with God for thousands of years,  meaning we are really thousands of years old. This is wholly possible because there is no such thing as time with God. No beginning, no end. Now if we are his children and are thousands of years old and God is Omnipotent and All-knowing, then he knows us so damn well he can predict exactly what we are going to do and how we are going to react to every event in are lives! And by knowing this he can enter this info into his "super duper quantum fifty trillion gig" computer and predict exactly what we will do and say every minute of every day for all our lives!

This is the only rational I can come up with......................Oh I did forget one thing. The only other way is some extra smart genius could invent a time machine and just slip right into the future and predict away...oops,  how could he predict away if the future hasn't happened yet?
Which reminds me, Back to the Future was a pretty cool movie. And, The Time Machine.

Have you ever wondered about this?
Do you think God just fastforward's time and then rewinds to tell us what will happen?
Or are we just specks of dust in a giant universe and still in the "stone age?"

I believe in G-d as a fatherly figure. I am not sure I like the idea of him tweaking time. That kinda freaks me out. I like to think we are all on a giant chess board and G-d is watching the match. I also think that our planet is one of many in a vast universe we have yet to even really discover. It is naive of me to think we are the only ones. I mean, man used the think the world was flat and that the son was a firey G-d with wings...

I have always thought that if time travel WERE possible (and I don't think it is) it would be easier to go BACK in time, but only as a sort of 'read only' mode, like looking at a recording that can't be changed.
However, from what I have read, the scientists seem to think that going forward is possible.

If you want to get technical, if you were going at the speed of light, in a sense you would be travelling through time faster. That would be a question for God when we get there.

hmmm...good question..I have always thought of God operating outside of our dimension. So that all things are happening at the same time...Past present future....

To me it's sorta like looking at a football game from tv instead of playing on the field. If I'm a player I only see a part of the game, if I'm a spectator, I can see the whole game.

Excellent comments my friends. We have only touched on a minute speck of what's out there in this massive and incredible universe!

I think Time BANDITS was a cool movie. Which has nothing to do with anything. Well- there was a lot of time-traveling going on.
Any amount of deep thinking on this subject causes my brain to spin. My personal opinion is, no one-not scientists, not people of any and every belief system on earth, is anywhere close to the reality of Figuring It All Out. And that's OK with me. But it is entertaining to speculate--that is, until I get dizzy.

I forgot about the movie Time Bandits. That was a cool show also. Yes I agree with you on that one but it is fun to discuss.

Well if God knew exactly what we were going to do next then why would we be here at all. Wouldn't he already know that we are going to pass every test or not? I think he has a good idea of what our reaction might be but don't you think that we might just sometimes surprise him? I don't really know. I've thought of this many times though. Good topic Uncle Lafe.:)

I know its been a year since this was discussed but I havent had a computer for even longer than that so just reading alot of Lafe's blog for the first time! sorry Lafe, Im not very faithful am I? :)
I agree with Lafe and Lila, I think God knows us so well he pretty much knows what we'll do or how we'll react in most situations but as Lila said I think we can surprise Him or else why would we be here having to prove ourselves if He already knows exactly how its going to end?
